Rangemaster Homeware @which?

Which?

The Brief:

Having worked with which? for many years now, shoots always crop up to create story-telling editorial images to support the articles. On this occasion we wanted to reference the 1950’s home to support the aesthetic of the new Rangemaster series of homeware but keep the overall treatment more modern.

We had a clear idea of what we wanted to achieve so put this together as a sketch and got approval for the art department to go ahead with props and the colour-way to make this work. Colour theory is key on all images and on this shot it demonstrates how a simple idea works well when executed with a complimentary colour scheme. See sketch below.

Original Sketch

This was the original sketch for the concept. More than often hand-drawn either in pencil or in a software app, a basic colour treatment is added to demonstrate to the client the direction it could head in.

Originally waffles were added, but we decided to keep it simple and go with a plain white toast. Additional props and background colours were introduced to find a balance between a purposely set-up studio look and a 1950’s home feel

Below shows a couple of progress pictures from the shoot and a BTS of the set
